Karen McDivitt co-founded McDivitt Law Firm with Mike in 1992 and has been instrumental in its growth since its inception. She played a key role in designing and developing the firm’s first client database, oversaw the firm’s marketing, and served as the firm’s CFO before becoming its President. Karen’s business acumen helped transform McDivitt into a multi-lawyer firm, and her passion for community engagement led her to establish McDivitt Makes a Difference – the firm’s community outreach branch.
Raised in the small town of Las Animas, Colorado, Karen went on to receive a BA in Sociology and an MA in Special Education from the University of Colorado, Boulder. She later received a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Denver University. In addition to her role at McDivitt Law Firm, Karen has served on the boards of several notable organizations, including the University of Colorado Alumni Association Board of Directors, Pikes Peak Mental Health, and the Colorado Youth Symphony. Her contributions to these organizations have been invaluable, and she continues to be a respected member of these communities.
Prior to co-founding McDivitt Law Firm, Karen worked as a technical writer for Communication Specialists in Denver. She also served as a Learning Specialist at Children’s Hospital in Denver and taught Special Education in both the Denver and Colorado Springs school systems. Her diverse professional background, coupled with her extensive experience in the legal industry, has given her a unique perspective on client care and service.
Karen’s interest in ethics in the field of childhood education led her to write and publish a book, Ethics in Child and Adolescent Groups, A Focus on Ethical Decision-Making. Her work has been highly acclaimed and is recognized as a valuable resource for educators and professionals in the education field.
