McDivitt Law Firm is proud to announce this year’s winners of its annual PSA contest for high school students in Colorado. Palmer High School sophomores Jade Samuels and Brittney Balestra won the grand prize for their video, which focuses on the dangers of texting while behind the wheel. In a compelling 28-second video, Jade and Brittney show how easily drivers can be distracted, and how devastating the effects can be. Their video will be aired on TV throughout the state for two weeks during the month of May, and can also be viewed below.
The winning PSA was selected from six finalists, and all of the finalist videos can be viewed on our Facebook page. The winning students have their choice of a MacBook Pro or a $1,500 gift card, and McDivitt will also make a donation to Palmer High School.
About the McDivitt PSA Contest
Each year, McDivitt Law Firm holds its state-wide PSA contest in the spring for high school students in Colorado through the firm’s McDivitt Makes a Difference program. One of the most prominent goals of McDivitt Makes a Difference is to keep our roads safe for our communities, and the PSA contest is designed to help high school students send an effective safe-driving message to their peers.
The Judges
All PSA entries are reviewed by two groups of people. The first, executives at McDivitt Law Firm, looked for content of the message. Then, a team of producers from Los Angeles, CA, reviewed videos for quality of production and story-telling.
Guidelines for PSA Contest
Each student participating in this year’s contest was required to submit a video between 28 and 29 seconds in length. All students must attend high school, grades 9 through 12, in the Denver metro, Colorado Springs or Pueblo areas. The theme of the video must be centered on distracted driving and cannot contain copyrighted materials, vulgar or inappropriate content.
