In 2007 Karen and Mike McDivitt launched the community-outreach branch of their firm, McDivitt Makes a Difference, with a focus on two main initiatives: Safety and Education.
Every hour of every day, McDivitt Law Firm takes calls from victims of accidents. It’s sobering for us to see this kind of daily devastation, and while as a firm we are able to help them get compensation for their injuries, as members of the community, we wanted to do something more.
To help make sure our streets are safer, McDivitt sponsors several programs throughout the year, from a PSA contest for high school students, to Drive Smart Colorado’s High School Safety Challenge, and Designated Driver of Colorado Springs. We also provide free cab rides home on four major holidays for residents of Pueblo and Colorado Springs.
As a former educator and with a doctorate in child psychology, Karen McDivitt has long made it her passion to help support schools and education. With that in mind, McDivitt Law Firm has begun providing school supplies and backpacks for all incoming kindergarteners at Centennial Elementary in Colorado Springs. This donation takes a burden off of the families, and helps free the schools up to use those funds for other education programs for the students.
Each year, McDivitt Law Firm not only supports its existing efforts in safety and education, but it finds new ways to help the community. And these efforts do not just exist at a corporate level. Each team member at McDivitt Law Firm pitches in one way or another to help out – whether it’s through donating their time to build homes for Habitat for Humanity, or raising money for organizations like the American Heart Association – we are a firm that believes in doing right by people, each day at work, and when we’re not at work. We are all proud community members of Colorado.
